Welcome to the Way

Greetings fellow travelers, I am so happy you have found your Way here through the World Wide electronic Wilderness. This website will be the trailhead for all the guided tours along the Way of the Showman, with your trusted explorer and trailblazer, the Illuminated Showman himself, Captain Frodo.

I am a circus performer and writer. I have traveled the world as the Incredible Rubberman for the last 20 years. As Showman I have graced stages and bigtops around the world in such luminary productions as La Soirée, La Clique, Circus Oz, and currently in Las Vegas, in the Spiegelworld production of Opium at the Cosmopolitan casino. (That is, due to the pandemic I am currently appearing nowhere as a performer. This hiatus in my normal 10 shows a week schedule has given me the time to get this project off the ground. Never so bad its not good for something).

Whilst traveling, I have also been writing. I have been writing a monthly blog over at the always excellent Australian circus magazine Carnival Cinema. I have also been writing stories, some short, some novella lengths and some novel length. Apart from the blogs, this aspect of my artistic output has been a kind of secret. This website and the companion podcast is how I aim to change that. What was clandestine and hidden shall now be flaunted and celebrated. (I hope.)

As I start this journey of revelation I am also doing a podcast, bearing the same name as this website. The first season of episodes is based on my blog posts. I am not the type to naturally express myself in slogans, and soundbites. The long form of my essays lend themselves excellently to being listened to. I have greatly enjoyed the process of creating a completely new Way of expressing myself. A whole new arena, a place where what’s being shown is only seen inside the minds of the listeners. I have performed on every kind of stage from the Sydney Opera House, to Royal Festival Hall in London, to a cobbled street in Edinburgh, Scotland, but this is the first time I will grace a sound stage. Needless to say, I am excited.
