Captain Frodo’s unique brand of illuminated showmanship is both hysterically funny and surprisingly moving.
Impossible to explain, it must be seen to be believed.
Captain Frodo has been a performer all his life. As a son of a magician Frodo’s love affair with the stage began in the Great Santini’s Magic Show, in Norway, in the early 1980's.
Frodo was born with hyper mobile joints which guided him from magic to escapology. Using his natural flexibility to wriggle his way out of a straight jacket became the finale of the family show. Yet that finale became the start of the Captain’s next career as The Incredible Rubberman. It turned out that audiences were more fascinated with the crazy contortions and strange dislocations that happened inside the straight jacket, than the escape itself. The Captain successfully turned his deformity into his art.
Frodo has lived and performed in Las Vegas for three years, toured the world for 12 years with the Cabaret Sensation La Soiree, spent multiple seasons with the danish cult phenomenon Zirkus Nemo, performed for Prince Charles at his private christmas party and performed seven seasons of shows at the Sydney Opera House, amongst endless other career highlights. As well as being part of large scale. productions the Captain also presents his own full length solo shows for both adult and family audiences.
What does the press say?
“Captain Frodo's charm lies in the way he interacts with the audience, wickedly taking them on a physical, comedic, journey while poking them into contemplating what is important in life.”
-ABC Perth, Australia
“Contortionist Captain Frodo's party piece may be dislocating his shoulder, but when he climbs up an increasingly precarious tower made from upturned buckets of diminishing size, his precarious ascent becomes a comment on the absurdity of all human endeavour.”
-The Guardian, London
“He is unique, convulsively funny and probably a genius.”
Financial Times, London
“This bendy clown is surely the Tommy Cooper of contortion.”
What’s On, London
“Captain Frodo, the most imaginative – and perhaps more importantly, hysterical – contortion act you are ever likely to see.”
-The Stage, London
“A triumph of optimism over biology.”
-Sydney morning Herald
“Brilliant, brilliant, and absolutely terrifying.
-His Royal Highness Charles, the Prince of Wales. (Said when the Captain performed at his privat Christmas party at Saint James’ Palace.)
